Upena Wave Farm

ModuleIcon

The Upena Wave-Farm was intended to provide a modular, extensible zero emission design to facilitate the production of electrical power and Hydrogen fuel using a hybrid mix of wind, solar, thermal and wave power generation. Continue reading

Solar Alternative Energy

DeathRayIcon

I first became interest in alternative energy after the oil crisis in the 1970’s, testing a solar concentrator, alcohol biofuel generator and a vertical-axis wind turbine in the school Science Fair. Continue reading

Self-Powered Structures

Wing-In-Ground Effect (WIG) “Flying Sub”

WIGSubIcon

My students asked about the prop-less submarine propulsion system, so I explained the origin of its design as a flying submersible for maintenance of the floating power grid. Continue reading

Fixed propagation of Light through a Vacuum

Polarization

The 2-D representation of a photon’s existence carries its third dimension within its path orientation (accessible as polarization), while the fixed rate of C may be an artifact of the universe’s passage along the photon’s existence. Continue reading

Apparent wave/particle duality of photons.

time_dilationIcon

Energy propagates at a fixed velocity through a vacuum, designated as C. Experiments with light indicate the apparent duality of a photon’s state – light will act in a wave-like or a particle-like manner depending upon the conditions of the … Continue reading

WIG Hovertrain: Innovation Takes Time

MagLevIcon

I wanted to share my idea for a form of rapid transportation that uses magnets for propulsion and the wing-in-ground-effect (WIG) for suspension above a track. Various “hovertrain” ideas using air suspension have been examined since before I was born, but are still being explored today as well. Continue reading

Underwater Solar Panel Dive Test Results

Icon of the Conceptual rendering of an Artificial Kelp photovoltaic (PV) solar "Forest'

Two divers were able to test the Solar Seaweed design in experiments conducted in the Gulf of Mexico off the coast of Corpus Christie, Texas. The design proved that submerged biomimetic photovoltaic (PV) solar panels can be operated underwater in shallow water deployments, with an interesting test result showing that near-surface panels capture light reflected from surface waves even when facing away from the sun. Additional tests will be needed, but this experiment proves the concept works. Continue reading

Solid-State Air Conditioner

Solid-State Air-Conditioner Icon

A zero emissions air conditioner for supplemental heating and cooling in cars and buildings using solid-state Peltier modules and photovoltaic solar panels. Condensate can also be collected for filtration in water-poor regions. Continue reading
