In the face of Interference

No matter the reason why someone complained about crowd funding, STEMulate Learning and SOLID Learning will continue to conduct STEM workshops and to develop new materials for educators and students. #SciFund Round 3 “Telepathic Cyborg Robots”

In Round 3 of the #SciFund Challenge, I will be crowd-funding a neurocomputing headset to expand our preliminary efforts with thought-controlled devices. The preliminary prototypes can only control the speed of a robot or train, but with the Emotiv EPOC headset we will be able to let students take control of complex devices and to identify enhancements for their learning environment itself. This project provides a bridge directly connecting student’s thoughts and dreams to their creations, providing a spur towards STEM interest. Continue reading

#SciFund Round 3 “Digitize the World”

In Round 3 of the #SciFund Challenge, I will be crowd-funding a 3D Scanner to scan objects and students for the SOLID Learning program. Museums have offered access to their collections in return for access to the scanned files, and scanning poses no harm to fragile dinosaur bones or priceless artifacts from antiquity. This crowd-funding project can literally share the world’s history with any teacher or student anywhere in the world by scanning items and making them freely available for download. Continue reading

#SciFund Round 2 Project B Support Results

During the 2nd Round of the #SciFund Challenge, crowd-funded support was provided to test the artificial “Solar Seaweed” system, with very positive results after the open-water tests conducted in the Gulf of Mexico.
