Using Vimeo to gather project videos!

Screencap of the Vimeo channel for #SciFund videos

Vimeo has some great features for showing off our project videos, along with an excellent gadget for embedding display into blogs and websites:

I have set up a Vimeo Channel and Group for #Scifund to collect participants’ videos in one place. Once the RocketHub site for the #SciFund Challenge goes live on May 1st, each project will have an active video available on its page, but this will allow prolific promoters of their projects to link multiple videos for each in an easy-to-browse forum.

Many participants also have their videos up on YouTube as well, to provide the best opportunities for public viewing to attract people outside of the researchers’ immediate social media and family circles. Crowdfunding starts with those you know and trust and extends outward as they pass along your message. A few philanthropic strangers who frequent crowdfunding sites will wander across your project but these are a rarity – your personal contacts and social networking provide the bulk of attention to your project.
